Applications and examples

Verteporfin (Visudyne®): The product is composed of EPC and DMPC in 3:5 molar ratio. Due to good stability and biocompatibility, DMPC is widely used in the preparation of photosensitive liposomes. Amphotericin B lipid complex (Abelcet®): The product is composed of DMPC and DMPG in 7:3 molar ratio. L-NDPP (Aroplatin™): The product is composed of DMPC and DMPG in 7:3 molar ratio.

DMPC is a member of the Phosphatidylcholine (PC) family, composed of saturated symmetrical phospholipids with 14 carbon atoms.


DMPC is an amphoteric glycerophospholipid and can be combined with cholesterol to serve as a biomembrane model.


Adding DMPC to the specified diet for apoE-null mice can increase the level of high-density lipoprotein in these mice, improve the distribution of other lipids, and thus prevent the occurrence of atherosclerosis.
