Phosphatidylglycerol (PG) phospholipids carry a negative charge due to their negatively charged polar phosphate groups, rendering the entire molecule negatively charged. Depending on the fatty acid chains, common PG phospholipids such as dipalmitoylphosphatidylglycerol (DPPG) and dimyristoylphosphatidylglycerol (DMPG) show significant differences in phase transition temperatures.
