It possesses fluidity characteristics and can be enzymatically deactivated by chlorides. Antibiotics like fusidic acid target glycerophospholipids by binding to the phosphate groups on their surface. This head group interacts with the bacterial cell membrane, inducing increased permeability to ions, ultimately leading to cell lysis.
